“The first chapter of Brihat Parashara Hora Sastra (foundational compilation book of astrology, BPHS) is about creation.
“Sri Vishnu, who is the Lord, who has undefiled spirit, who is endowed with the three Gunas, although he transcends the grip of Gunas, who is the Author of this Universe, who is glorious, who is the Cause and who is endowed with valour, has no beginning. He authored the Universe and administers it with a quarter of his power. The other three quarters of Him, filled with nectar, are knowable only to the philosophers. (BPHS Chapter 1, Sutra 9-12)”
Here, Parashara tells us Sri Vishnu who is the Lord with all these amazing qualities has no beginning, therefore, has no ending. Vishnu is the force that just simply is, always has been, always will be. Authored the Universe and administers it with a quarter of his power. 25% of him is knowable through our experiences. Hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling, etc. something. When a Guru talks to us and tells us a Truth, we are hearing that through our senses. The most we can hear is 25% of Vishnu, if we are very wise. The other three quarters of Vishnu are knowable to the philosophers who are the perfected beings, the masters. The ones who can go to Samadhi (enlightenment) at will, are in a constant state of Samadhi in their daily activities. These people know the three quarters of Vishnu that doesn’t manifest. But they don’t know them through their senses or through any human faculty. They know these through the development of their Divine faculties. Anything these beings might tell us about Vishnu, any Truth they might convey, is just a fraction of what Vishnu is. 75% that doesn’t manifest, can’t be expressed, explained or talked about, it just can’t be. It is beyond anything we can experience in this created world. A Guru can’t come and tell you what it is like to be in Samadhi. There are no words for it. Every language, every sound is the manifested parts of Vishnu, that can’t explain the unmanifested. That is why the Guru’s tell us not to speak about our spiritual experiences. Because it diminishes them. You start thinking about your spiritual experience in a worldly way that you can convey it and it comes out feeling so much less than it was. You can’t explain it. Trying to make your mind see it as this thing, you are trying to explain, which is a lesser thing than it actually was.
Every cycle of creation, 25% of Vishnu manifests himself as manifested as all of creation through the agency of Brahma (the Creator). In every cycle of creation there could be somewhat different Truth that is being expressed as being knowable and always a lot unknowable. Through these cycles of creation, we can experience more and more aspects of Divinity.
In our birth charts every planet is influencing each other, they are all part of making us into a single Organism. The astrologer breaks that Organism into different parts keeping in mind that the entire chart is the Organism. This is like white light. White light is white light. But if we take it through a prism, we can see several colors that make up the white light. It is still the white light. The astrologer studies the entirety of the person and breaks it down into different colors and components to understand their entirety. That entirety trying to be understood with human faculties is only 25% of manifested Vishnu. The person them self is though capable of “knowing” the unmanifested parts of Vishnu in their entirety.”
